Weave a Towel Workshop

Classes will be scheduled in 2027.

Weave a Towel   -  For this workshop, you will be weaving a towel on a Schacht Wolf Pup 4-shaft floor loom. The looms are pre-warped with cotton yarns. You'll choose weft yarns that go with the warp to make a lovely, usable towel.

Each Wolf Pup is warped for a different towel: Twill, Overshot and Huck. When you check out, you select which towel you would like to weave and that loom will be reserved for you.

This is a beginner class; you don't need to know how to weave or have woven before.  The workshop is held in our weaving studio at 400 Leland Ave, Plainfield, NJ.

Cost is $95 and all materials are included. 

Classes are open to adults 18 years and older. 

Expected class schedule:

• Bring your own lunch and beverages; tea and instant coffee are available in the studio.
• Easiest to weave without shoes so please bring a pair of socks.
• Arrive at the studio anytime after 9:45 am, enter through the We Like Yarn shop under the Fleck Knitwear sign.
• Free parking in front of the shop on Leland Ave.
• Class to start at 10:00 am with a discussion of the weaving process and color.
• You'll pick the yarn you would like to use as weft for your towel.
• Everyone will weave a hem.
• Each weaver will get specific instructions for the particular towel type:  Twill, Overshot or Huck.
• You'll weave up to a lunch break around 12-12:30 and resume weaving after lunch.
• When you've woven the towel length, you'll weave the other hem.
• We'll cut it off the loom, serge it for washing and stay-stitch for the final hem.
• It's expected you'll be finished on Saturday 3 to 4 pm.
• You'll take home instructions for washing and hemming your towel.
