Rigid Heddle Workshops
We are offering three Rigid Heddle classes using the Schacht Cricket Rigid Heddle looms.
Cost for each class is $95 and all materials are provided.
The classes are held on a Saturday in our weaving studio at 400 Leland Ave, Plainfield, NJ. Classes are open to adults 18 years and older.
Beginner Rigid Heddle Scarf - In this workshop, you will learn how to warp a Rigid Heddle loom and how to weave on it. This is a beginner class; you don't need to know how to weave or have woven before. We will use wool blend yarns for this class.

Intermediate Rigid Heddle Fancy Fiber Scarf - In this workshop, you will be warping with a variety of yarns -- boucle, eyelash, thick/thin, mohair, wool blends - for a colorful scarf. This is an Intermediate class; you should have warped and woven on a Rigid Heddle loom recently and be familiar with the weaving process on it.

Intermediate Rigid Heddle Chenille Scarf - We will be weaving with rayon Chenille in this class using a 15 dent reed on the Rigid Heddle loom to create a fluid, weaverly scarf. This is an Intermediate class; you should have warped and woven on a Rigid Heddle loom recently and be familiar with the weaving process on it.

Expected class schedule:
- Bring your own lunch and beverages; tea and instant coffee are available in the studio.
- Arrive at the studio anytime after 9 am, enter through the We Like Yarn shop under the Fleck Knitwear sign.
- Free parking in front of the shop on Leland Ave.
- Class to start at 9:30 am with a discussion of how color shows in weaving, the warp and weft yarns.
- You'll pick your yarns and you will warp up the Rigid Heddle loom.
- After a demo on weaving, you'll start weaving and weave until a lunch break around 12-12:30.
- Resume weaving in afternoon.
- We'll cut it off the loom, tie the fringe on the four corners and you may complete the fringe at home.
- Finish up on Saturday around 4 pm.
